Judge Dismisses Devin Nunes’ Defamation Lawsuit Against Rachel Maddow

A federal judge has dismissed a nearly five-year-old lawsuit filed by former Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) against MSNBC host Rachel Maddow. The case centered on Maddow’s 2021 on-air comments suggesting Nunes failed to turn over a package from Ukrainian politician Andrii Derkach, linked to Russian intelligence, to the FBI. U.S. District Judge Kevin Castel ruled that Nunes failed to prove Maddow acted with actual malice. Nunes had alleged that MSNBC and Maddow harbored extreme bias and ill will toward him. The court had previously allowed the case to proceed in 2022, but the latest ruling found no reasonable jury could support his claims. Nunes now serves as CEO of Trump’s Truth Social platform. News Corp to Launch ‘California Post’ in Los Angeles

News Corp announced plans to debut the California Post, a new daily newspaper set to launch in early 2026 in Los Angeles. The paper will feature tabloid-style coverage of California and aims to counter what News Corp calls “jaundiced, jaded journalism.” Nick Papps, a veteran editor from News Corp Australia, will lead the new publication, with oversight from New York Post editor-in-chief Keith Poole. Trump and Murdoch Postpone Deposition in WSJ Libel Case

President Trump and media mogul Rupert Murdoch have agreed to postpone Murdoch’s deposition in Trump’s libel lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal. The suit, which targets News Corp, Dow Jones, and others, concerns a Journal article about an Epstein-related birthday letter allegedly bearing Trump’s name, which he claims is “FAKE.” Citing concerns about Murdoch’s age and health, both parties agreed to delay depositions until after a ruling on the Journal’s motion to dismiss.
