MBFC’s Daily Vetted Fact Checks for 11/25/2024

Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers who are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

TRUE
Claim via Social Media: After Election Day, Planned Parenthood reported a 760% increase in IUD appointments and 1200% increase in vasectomies.

Snopes rating: Mostly True (The increase reported was specifically for Nov. 6, 2024, as compared with Nov. 5, 2024. Further, the “1200% increase in vasectomies” was for vasectomy appointments made on that date, not the number of procedures performed.)

IUD and Vasectomy Appointments Increased Following US Presidential Election?

FALSE Claim via Social Media: The Senate passed bill that would ban Trump from becoming president.

USA Today rating: False (The bill in question would not bar Trump from the White House and has not been voted on, much less passed, by the Senate.)

BLATANT
LIE
Claim via Social Media: “Ballot dumps” in Pennsylvania, California, North Carolina, Alaska, and Wisconsin show election officials are improperly “flipping” down-ballot seats for Democrats.

PolitiFact rating: Pants on Fire (The claim misrepresents normal post-Election Day ballot counting, which follows state-specific laws and procedures. Late-counted ballots, including absentee, provisional, and corrected ballots, are a routine part of the process, not evidence of fraud. Changing results reflect lawful election processes, not interference.)

No, ballots counted after Election Day don’t mean elections were stolen

FALSE Claim via Social Media: Pentagon spending billions on DEI.

Lead Stories rating: False (The most recent budget request in April 2024 asked for $162 million.)

Fact Check: Pentagon NOT Spending $86 Billion Annually On DEI …

BLATANT
LIE
Claim via Social Media: “McDonald’s offered 850 million to RFK for hush money” related to its frying oil.

PolitiFact rating: Pants on Fire (There’s no evidence McDonald’s offered Kennedy money to keep quiet about its frying oil.)

No, McDonald’s didn’t offer $850 million to keep RFK Jr. qui

FALSE (International: Nigeria): Trump announces visa restrictions for Nigerian professionals
