I’m very pleased to see that the daily fact-check email I received today incorporates the content right in the email, whereas before there was only a link. I hope this will continue.
Watch how all these pre-election-day lies and other falsehoods about ballots and voting machines will simply evaporate now that Trump was declared the winner, with precious few of his representatives having the integrity to acknowledge that’s all they were. Lying and fearmongering is WHAT THEY DO.
It’s rich that FCC commissioner Brendan Carr, a Trump appointee, according to the fact-check link, whined (falsely) about Trump not getting equal air time. Who, in the last decade, has received more free air time across TV networks and other media than Donald effing Trump?!
A “clear and blatant effort to evade the FCC’s Equal Time rule,” Carr said about the SNL skit, but the only thing clear and blatant was his erroneous (and very likely dishonest) jump to conclusions, as well as the level of competence displayed by so many Trump appointees.
That his post was viewed millions of times on X is also a great example of how fast misinformation spreads when people don’t verify first. And though the story didn’t cite them specifically, Elon Musk is frequently guilty of this, especially in service to his orange hero, on the platform with blatantly biased promotions that can’t be blocked or closed. Trump himself is in a league of his own on the gullible acceptance and spreading of baseless hearsay or utter fabrications.
This is what we have to look forward to for the next four+ years.
