Founded in 1789, The Berkshire Eagle is an American daily newspaper published in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and covering all of Berkshire County, as well as four New York communities near Pittsfield. It is considered a newspaper of record for Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

The Berkshire Eagle was owned by Digital First Media until 2016, when it was purchased by four local private investors. Revenue is derived through advertising and subscriptions.



Analysis / Bias

In review, The Berkshire Eagle covers local news through the use of journalists with minimal bias in wording such as this $11.2M overhaul at YMCA in Pittsfield to begin in spring. National and world news is derived primarily from the Associated Press.

Editorially, The Berkshire Eagle has endorsed Democratic Presidential candidates since 1940. The op-ed pages features diverse commentary with more opinions favoring the left. In general, this paper is factual with a left leaning editorial bias.
