The president of Ukraine asked President Donald Trump to deliver a message to Vladimir Putin of Russia: “Get out of Ukraine, Mr. Putin.” In an interview with NBC News, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said his country is waiting for the United States to live up to its pledge to support Ukraine in the face of aggressive acts by Moscow, including attacks on the country’s naval ships near the Black Sea this week.
In the interview, Poroshenko also warned the Russians that Ukraine will not roll over if war comes. “We will fight for our freedom, we will fight for our democracy, we will fight for our soil,” he said. “The Russians will pay a huge price.”
