Mueller’s Team Reports Cost of Investigation

Reuters reports that recent expenses by Mueller’s team stand at $4.5 million dollars, of which the largest portion was salaries and benefits for its employees. The Justice Department reported that other “components” or activities supporting the investigation amounted to an additional $5.5 million. The last time the special counsel was investigating a White House occupant, the office of Kenneth Star spent $52 million dollars in four and a half years.

Reporting further disclosures, The Washington Post states that $16.7 million was spent by the DoJ in it’s first 10 1/2 months of Mueller’s investigation, with the addition of $6.7 million spent by Mueller and team in the first 4-1/2 months in office.

So far the investigation has charged 19 people and three companies. Five people have pleaded guilty to various charges, including former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, former deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates and former campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos.
