Funded by / Ownership

The Prepared is owned by its founders and operates as a media company focusing on disaster preparedness.  Initially, the site was self-funded. However, it has attracted some backers and investors. The financing structure included a priced round with a small group of angel investors, and the company committed to distributing a portion of its profits to investors. The site also generates revenue through affiliate marketing. They also donate to one percent for the planet.

Analysis / Bias

ThePrepared.com provides content that includes tutorials on preparing for emergencies and disaster scenarios, such as how to prepare a “bug out bag” or a “get home” bag. The site’s approach is practical and responsible, focusing on preparedness without sensationalizing or trafficking in terror or apocalyptic predictions. For example, articles and headlines do not rely on emotional wording like this Food list: How to build your survival pantry with long-lasting food from the supermarket. All articles are properly sourced.

Editorially, the site’s focus is on practical preparedness rather than political or ideological viewpoints; however, they do report on politics and policies such as this These proposed anti-farming laws will make self-reliance much harder (and food more expensive). The article demonstrates a right-leaning bias due to its critical stance on regulatory approaches to environmental and animal welfare issues, its emphasis on the negative aspects of these initiatives, and its alignment with broader conservative critiques of government intervention in the agricultural sector. Although some articles favor the right, they also demonstrate concern for climate change and consider environmental disasters a real threat. This aligns with a left-leaning perspective.

In general, The Prepared is not like other prepper sites that focus on conspiracy theories and government takeovers. They focus on realistic emergencies that one should be prepared for. While some content is biased and offers political preferences, there is a reasonable balance, making The Prepared a least biased and highly factual source.
