Analysis / Bias

The Mirror US focuses on entertainment and lifestyle content, with political commentary interspersed throughout. Like its UK edition, the site emphasizes pictures as the main feature of stories, with pages covered mainly by large photographs.

In review, The Mirror typically uses strong, emotionally loaded language in its headlines, such as “Minnesota man used a hunting knife to slaughter wife in front of family at Bible study.” This piece’s layout is dominated by visuals and large text blocks, emphasizing the most distressing details. While the article includes factual information, such as Robert Castillo’s sentencing and family member quotes, the focus is primarily on the tragic and emotional details of the case.

The Mirror also covers political stories. For example, the article titled “Ryan Routh Pictured after Suspected Would-be Trump Assassin Arrested Following Golf Course Shots” discusses a significant political event. However, the approach remains similar to their entertainment-centered news, focusing on dramatic details such as the intense moments surrounding the arrest. As seen in this article, as well as the previous one, The Mirror prioritizes emotional engagement and dramatic storytelling and relies on sensationalism and visuals to captivate its audience.
