Funded by / Ownership

According to its About page, Science-Presse is operated by Agence Science-Presse, a nonprofit organization. Funding comes partly from the Government of Quebec and the Government of Canada, with additional revenue generated through training workshops, educational initiatives, and commissioned science writing. Their financial statements are published openly in their corporate documents section.

Analysis / Bias

Straight news reporting focuses on science, health, and education. Articles typically are sourced from peer-reviewed journals or credible agencies, such as this report on ancient pathogens published in Nature (Skeleton Study: 37,000 Years of Infectious Diseases). Reporting is well-sourced and avoids sensationalism.

Science-Presse is also an established fact-checker and an IFCN signatory, lending credibility to its work. Its Rumor Detector section debunks common misinformation, such as the claim that medical errors are the third leading cause of death (Medical errors, the third leading cause of death? False).

Editorial and opinion content occasionally shows a progressive lean, particularly on environmental issues. For example, Hurricane Prediction: A Useless Activity in the Trump Era critiques U.S. budget cuts under Trump that reduced climate-monitoring capacity, blending science with political commentary. This supports a mild left-center rating.
