Analysis / Bias

In review, the Record Searchlight covers news, sports, lifestyle, and entertainment for the greater Redding, California area. They report local news with minimal loaded emotional language Shasta County Superintendent of Schools Judy Flores announces she will run for a second term. National and international news comes from other Gannett publications and the Associated Press.

Editorially, the Record Searchlight does not make Presidential endorsements; however, a review of op-eds shows that both sides are represented such as this that favors the left: Lies about COVID vaccines are killing people in less educated parts of California. And this favoring the right Recalls will soon get harder to pull off if Democrats have their way. After reviewing dozens of op-eds, we found slightly more favor a liberal perspective. Finally, the news is generally reported factually and with a slight left-leaning editorial bias.
