History
Pekingnology is an English-language China policy newsletter founded in 2020 by Zichen Wang. According to its About page, Wang previously worked for Xinhua News Agency for more than 11 years before joining the Beijing-based Center for China and Globalization (CCG). He also earned a mid-career Master in Public Policy from Princeton University.
Pekingnology has been cited by major outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, Bloomberg, and The Guardian.

It does not simply promote Chinese government positions. In Zhao Shukai: China’s Rural Reform Had No Master Plan, it publishes an argument favoring political pluralism, local autonomy, and limits on top-down policymaking.
Likewise, China’s Debt to Its Migrant Workers documents discriminatory restrictions, arbitrary detention, and forced labor imposed on rural migrants under past Chinese government policies.
