Analysis / Bias

Novi List extensively covers political events and figures, mainly focusing on PM Andrej Plenković, leader of the center-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). The newspaper reports on Plenković’s administration’s achievements, such as the article “Plenković: During the mandate of our Government, there have never been more employed, never fewer unemployed and never higher salaries'” which reports the record number of employed individuals in Croatia, presenting these developments as accomplishments. Additionally, Novi List covers controversies involving Plenković, such as his derogatory remarks about opposition members and the leak of internal meeting recordings, providing a balanced view by presenting successes and criticisms.

Novi List often emphasizes government initiatives, emphasizing positive outcomes, such as current measures to raise public sector wages. It also covers social issues, including minority rights and social justice. In its reporting on Plenković’s statements, the newspaper reported his commitment to ensuring minority rights and inclusive policies.

Regarding the opposition, such as the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Novi List recently published an article about the upcoming election for the new president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The article discusses whether to continue supporting Zoran Milanović or seek new leadership. The SDP is one of the main opposition parties in Croatia and is traditionally positioned as center-left. The article appears to present the situation in a balanced manner without favoring any side.

Regarding sourcing, Novi List frequently cites sources such as TV stations like Television N1, direct quotes, and social media posts in its articles.
