History
The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) is a nonprofit news organization based in Emeryville, California, and has conducted investigative journalism since 1977. It is known for producing stories that reveal scandals or corruption in government agencies and corporations. CIR has won numerous high-standard journalism awards.
According to their about page, “We engage and empower the public through investigative journalism and groundbreaking storytelling that sparks action improves lives and protects our democracy.” Over their history CIR has partnered with major news organizations such as Mother Jones, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, 60 Minutes, and NPR.
