History

Founded in 2016, Merion West is a political and commentary magazine based in Philadelphia. Merion West offers different perspectives on politics, economics, and cultural articles and interviews from across the political spectrum. They describe themselves as “nonpartisan and publish critical commentary and in-depth interviews from across the political spectrum.” Erich J. Prince and Henri Mattila are the founders, and Erich J. Prince is also the editor of the magazine.

Ownership information is not transparent; however, Erich J. Prince and Henri Mattila appear to be the owners of Merion West.  Revenue is derived through advertising and donations.

Analysis / Bias

In review, Merion West publishes political commentary from both the Left and the Right perspectives. Further, these articles are always well-sourced and free of loaded language, such as this Rep.-elect Carolyn Bourdeaux: Why She Ran, and Hope for the Future. In short, this is a very well-written news source with in-depth articles. Although Merion West publishes articles that favor the right or the left, they present both sides, which is important for unbiased reporting. Further, they label articles based on whether they are from a Right, Left, or Center perspective.

Editorially, they cover a wide range of topics and positions that represent multiple viewpoints. In general, information is factual and presented with minimal bias.
