Analysis / Bias

IPR consistently prioritizes third-party perspectives. For example, it reported that Michael Feinstein urged Politico to include the California Green Party nominee, framing the exclusion as a voter-rights issue. Similarly, it highlighted the Libertarian Party of West Virginia opposing Governor Morrisey’s National Guard deployment, quoting state party officials and contextualizing with national “Defend the Guard” campaigns.

Its op-ed section consistently demonstrates a theme of skepticism toward both Democrats and Republicans, often criticizing the two-party system itself. Some pieces favor Green priorities (climate, electoral reform), while others support Libertarian positions (non-intervention, civil liberties). Editorial tone is not explicitly anti-Trump, but it is strongly critical of Trump’s federal overreach and of the Democratic establishment’s exclusion of third parties. Thus, bias tends to tilt toward outsider politics rather than any one party. However, there is more coverage of Libertarian politics overall. This is perhaps due to them being a larger party with more reach.

Coverage is factual and straightforward, relying on official statements and mainstream reporting. Its niche focus on independent and third-party politics means story selection is not “balanced” in the traditional sense, but it avoids misinformation and applies consistent editorial standards.
