Fact Check: Did the Census Bureau find more than 24,000 noncitizens voted illegally in 2020 and prove Trump won?

Media Bias Fact Check (MBFC) publishes daily vetted fact checks from verified IFCN-approved sources. Each claim is independently reviewed for accuracy and context.

Claimant: Donald Trump (R)

Claim: The Census Bureau found that over 24,000 noncitizens voted illegally in the 2020 election, meaning Trump won.

Rating: BLATANT LIE

Explanation: The Census Bureau analysis did not find that more than 24,000 noncitizens voted illegally. It found that more than 24,000 of roughly 128 million registered voters it analyzed matched immigration or visa records for which no indication of citizenship could be found. The report did not establish that those people voted illegally, did not say whom they voted for, and the number was smaller than the electoral margins needed to change the 2020 result.
