History

Celebtricity is a satire and entertainment website that became prominent during the mid-2010s for publishing fabricated celebrity, crime, and viral stories written in the style of conventional news reports. The site previously went offline and, for a period, its domain redirected users to the fake-news website ViralCocaine.com.

As of 2026, the original Celebtricity website is active again. The current site appears largely to restore its earlier archive rather than operate as a newly relaunched news organization. Its Contact page explicitly describes Celebtricity as a satire website publishing shocking “Fauxtire News.”

Funded by / Ownership

Celebtricity does not clearly disclose its ownership, management, or physical location. Its Privacy Policy indicates that the site uses advertising, including Google advertising services. No transparent corporate ownership or editorial staff information is provided.

Analysis / Bias

Celebtricity primarily publishes fictional and exaggerated stories for entertainment. Examples include Michael Jordan Lowering Price to 19.99 On All Jordan’s in 2017, Oprah Winfrey Pregnant with First Child at 61, and Meryl Streep is Future’s Biological Mother, DNA Confirms. These stories use invented quotations and absurd premises characteristic of satire and “fauxtire.”

The site has historically mixed obvious absurdity with headlines that can resemble legitimate breaking news. For example, Lead Stories debunked a fabricated Celebtricity story claiming that a wanted man attempted to turn himself in to collect his own reward. Lead Stories noted that Celebtricity identified itself as satire, although readers could easily encounter individual stories without seeing the disclaimer.

Another Lead Stories fact check debunked Celebtricity’s claim that a man beheaded his wife after learning that six children were not his. The article used an image from an unrelated real murder case. This illustrates why the site has sometimes been mistaken for fake news rather than clearly recognizable satire.

Celebtricity does not display a consistent political ideology and primarily targets celebrities, sensational crime, popular culture, and viral topics. Therefore, a conventional Left-Right bias rating is not applicable.
