Analysis / Bias

CFN applies a structured methodology for verification, using open-source intelligence, digital forensics, and multi-source validation (methodology page). Their classification system labels stories as “False,” “Deceptive,” “What We Know,” or “True.” Examples include correcting false claims about the USS Jason Dunham boarding a Venezuelan vessel and debunking a viral hoax about Volodymyr Zelensky’s alleged $1.2B European real estate fortune.

The outlet does not show significant ideological bias. Instead, it targets viral disinformation from across the spectrum, including narratives promoted by Venezuelan state media and Russian-aligned propaganda. CFN’s commitment to neutrality is reinforced by its IFCN certification, which requires adherence to transparency, nonpartisanship, and open methodology. Its approach makes it a trusted fact-checking organization in Latin America.
