LEFT-CENTER BIAS
These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appealing to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation. See all Left-Center sources.
- Overall, we rate Antena 3 CNN Left-Center Biased based on its longstanding affinity with center-left PSD politics, more adversarial treatment of center-right governments, and comparatively favorable framing of PSD-aligned political actors. We rate it Mixed for factual reporting due to generally credible straight-news sourcing offset by sensational commentary, repeated regulatory sanctions, and documented publication of serious unsupported and false allegations.

Funded by / Ownership
Antena 3 CNN is operated by Antena 3 S.A. and is part of Intact Media Group. Current ownership records filed with Romania’s National Audiovisual Council show substantial holdings by members of the Voiculescu family, including Corina and Camelia Voiculescu, along with the Dan Voiculescu Foundation, Antena Holding, and Antena 3 executive Mihai Gâdea.
Revenue comes primarily from television and digital advertising, sponsorships, and other commercial media activities. The CNN relationship is a licensing and news-partnership arrangement and does not make CNN the owner of Antena 3.
Analysis / Bias
Antena 3 CNN has historically maintained close ties to the political network surrounding founder Dan Voiculescu and has often been viewed as sympathetic to Romania’s center-left Social Democratic Party (PSD). Current coverage supports a Left-Center rather than neutral rating.
During the 2026 political crisis, coverage was frequently adversarial toward center-right PNL leader and former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. For example, Bolojan Has Declared “Total War” on President Nicușor Dan used strongly dramatic framing. By contrast, coverage of the emerging PSD-heavy government led by Luca Niculescu has generally been more neutral or accommodating, such as The Big Surprises in Luca Niculescu’s Government.
Straight-news articles frequently rely on Agerpres, government statements, direct interviews, and named political sources. However, commentary programs such as Sinteza Zilei and Decisiv have a more partisan and sensational style, and Romania’s National Audiovisual Council has repeatedly sanctioned Antena 3 for failures involving verification, impartiality, and unsupported accusations.
Failed Fact Checks
- Romania’s National Audiovisual Council found Antena 3 aired unverified and unsupported espionage and treason allegations against Ana Birchall, including conclusions described as clearly false and lacking a factual basis — 2025.
- Antena 3 CNN received an additional public warning from Romania’s National Audiovisual Council — 2026.
Overall, we rate Antena 3 CNN Left-Center Biased based on its longstanding affinity with center-left PSD politics, more adversarial treatment of center-right governments, and comparatively favorable framing of PSD-aligned political actors. We rate it Mixed for factual reporting due to generally credible straight-news sourcing offset by sensational commentary, repeated regulatory sanctions, and documented publication of serious unsupported and false allegations.
