“A July 2025 survey found that 47% of Republican voters said they’d still support Donald Trump even if he were officially implicated in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex crimes.”
I had hoped I was wrong, but it just seemed way too plausible — and it turned out I was right. Recent history suggests a different survey would reveal that closer to 94% of the same Republican voters — and Trump himself — would call for immediate impeachment of any Democrat president officially implicated for exactly the same crimes.
The hypocrisy is palpable. Someone who can find morality within themselves only when it seems to benefit them doesn’t really possess morality. Trump supporters kindly pride themselves on being all for the “rule of law,” unless their cult leader is the lawbreaker, and all for the Constitution unless Trump is the one flouting it. How people so bereft of moral consistency sleep at night is beyond me.
