Gannett Buyouts Trigger Departure of Veteran Reporters at The Arizona Republic

A wave of voluntary buyouts has hit The Arizona Republic, claiming several prominent voices amid Gannett’s national cost-cutting effort. Departing staff include longtime political journalist Mary Jo Pitzl and editorial page editor Elvia Díaz, along with over half of the opinion desk.
