Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers who are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

Claim by One Nation: Sen. Joe Manchin’s “support for the (Inflation Reduction Act) could cost West Virginia 100,000 fossil fuel jobs.”

PolitiFact rating: Mostly False (Estimates suggest there aren’t even 100,000 fossil fuel jobs in West Virginia today, meaning the notion that so many jobs would be lost in the state is mathematically impossible.)

Petition critical of Joe Manchin exaggerates number of W.Va. fossil fuel jobs at risk

Claim by Tucker Carlson: Tucker Carlson says new evidence clears Derek Chauvin of murder.

Newsweek rating: False (Tucker Carlson has not provided evidence showing George Floyd was not murdered by Chauvin. The examiner, Dr. Andrew Baker, said in court that his death was labeled homicide caused by “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.” A claim Carlson makes that Baker “understood” Floyd died of “natural causes” is false, as is Carlson’s claim that Floyd’s autopsy shows Chauvin did not kill him.)

Claim by Steve Kirsch: Regulatory agencies didn’t know of residual DNA contamination in COVID-19 RNA vaccines; residual DNA could integrate into our DNA and cause cancer

Health Feedback rating: Inaccurate (Health Canada stated that it was aware of residual DNA in COVID-19 mRNA vaccines before the vaccines were authorized. A dossier submitted by BioNTech to the European Medicines Agency in 2020 also showed that data on residual DNA was made known to the regulator. There’s no reliable evidence showing that DNA in vaccines integrates into our DNA or increases the risk of cancer.)
