President Donald Trump issued the first veto of his presidency on Friday, rejecting Congress’s resolution to override his declaration of a national emergency on the southern border.
In a rare rebuke enabled by members of the president’s own party, the GOP-controlled Senate voted 59-41 on Thursday to approve a measure already passed by the House that would revoke Trump’s national emergency declaration.
