BREAKING NEWS: Senate adjourns until after Christmas with no shutdown deal in sight

The Senate adjourned with no solution to the partial government shutdown and no plans to reconvene until Dec. 27, indicating Washington is settling into a lengthy government shutdown. Vice President Mike Pence met with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) shut down the chamber for the holidays.
