On Monday evening President Donald Trump announced his Supreme Court Justice pick to replace the retiring Justice Kennedy. President Trump has offered a list of four potential nominees that included: Brett Kavanaugh, Raymond Kethledge, Amy Coney Barrett and Thomas Hardiman. It was unknown if others were in consideration.
At 9pm Eastern President Trump announced he was selecting Brett Michael Kavanaugh as his nominee.
Brett Michael Kavanaugh is a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He was Staff Secretary in the Executive Office of the President of the United States under President George W. Bush. Mr. Kavanaugh has stated that he supports the decisions in Roe v. Wade, which has become a central issue in this selection.
Mr. Kavanaugh will be faced with a difficult confirmation in the coming months as Roe v. Wade and an ideologically divided house vie for votes in the midterms.
