LEAST BIASED

These sources have minimal bias and use very few loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appeals to emotion or stereotypes).  The reporting is factual and usually sourced.  These are the most credible media sources. See all Least Biased Sources.

  • Overall, we rate Profil as Least Biased (leaning left) based on balanced coverage with only a mild progressive tendency. We also rate them High for factual reporting due to a strong fact-checking desk, clear separation of opinion and news, and professional editorial standards. While their print-style magazine pieces often lack hyperlinks, this reflects format rather than weak sourcing, and their fact-checks are well documented.

Analysis / Bias

Profil is a mainstream news magazine that combines investigations, commentary, and fact-checking. Reporting such as “Warum Wien zu Europas Krypto-Mekka wird” offers detailed coverage of economic regulation.

Opinion is clearly labeled, for example, “Bleed us dry! Warum der Staat bei der Mittelschicht kürzen sollte”, which argues from a fiscal policy perspective.

The fact-check desk Faktiv evaluates political claims, such as dismissing misinformation about wind turbines contaminating drinking water, and these checks cite expert testimony and official data.

Profil’s editorial line shows accountability-oriented reporting with a moderate European perspective. It leans slightly left on social issues, but overall, it demonstrates balanced coverage typical of a professional news magazine.
