Bias: Extreme Right, Propaganda, Some Fake News
World Press Freedom Rank: USA 45/180
Founded in 2013, by Tony Blasioli, The Powdered Wig Society “draws its name from John Trumbull’s painting, Declaration of Independence, which depicts Mr. Jefferson and his five-man drafting committee presenting their work to Congress. The painting can be found on the back of the U.S. $2 bill. The original, which is 12′ x 18′, hangs in the US Capitol rotunda. It’s our hope that our representatives, who walk by this painting regularly, come to fully understand its significance.” The domain is registered in Hawaii.

Analysis / Bias
The Powdered Wig Society is a news and opinion blog with extreme right-wing bias in reporting. All articles favor the right and use strong emotionally loaded words. The Powdered Wig Society does attempt to source their information, however, most of the time it is too right-wing or other questionable sources. Further, the Powdered Wig Society has a terrible track record with fact-checkers, with numerous false claims.
A factual search reveals many failed fact checks from IFCN fact-checkers.
Overall, this source does publish some credible news, however, it is always extremely right biased. Based on the extreme bias, promotion of propaganda, and poor fact-checking record we rate the Powdered Wig Society as Questionable. (D. Van Zandt 8/1/2017) Updated (12/7/2018)
