Notes: Population Connection is a non-profit organization in the United States that raises awareness of population challenges and advocates for improved global access to family planning and reproductive health care. The organization was founded in 1968 by Paul R. Ehrlich, Richard Bowers and Charles Remington in the wake of Ehrlich’s best-selling book, The Population Bomb. Their mission statement is: “Overpopulation threatens the quality of life for people everywhere. Population Connection is the national grassroots population organization that educates young people and advocates progressive action to stabilize world population at a level that can be sustained by Earth’s resources.”
Population Connection advocates for the following issues: Global access to contraception and reproductive health care, Population and the environment, Reproductive rights, Comprehensive sex education for teens, U.S. funding for international family planning, Support for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Elimination of the Global Gag Rule.
In review, Population Connection publishes articles from their monthly magazine as well as a blog. All headlines and articles use minimally loaded language such as: UNTANGLING THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN CLIMATE CHANGE AND REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE. Each article and blog entry is sourced through a combination of links, direct quotes or MLA citations at the bottom of the article. Politically, the issues reported on this website are those that are championed by the left. Overall, we rate Population Connection Left-Center biased based on political affiliation with the use of neutral language and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing. (D.
