Funded by / Ownership

News.ro operates under SCNRO Agenţia de Ştiri SRL, established in 2016. Ownership is transparently disclosed on its About page as D Craig Holding SA (40%), Lazar Nicoară (37.5%), and Ion Sorin Tatu (22.5%). The outlet’s primary revenue comes from B2B subscriptions, supplemented by advertising and a limited selection of freely accessible articles.

Analysis / Bias

News.ro functions largely as a straight-news wire service, emphasizing direct quotations and attribution over editorial interpretation. Political reporting includes verbatim coverage of statements by Traian Băsescu, such as in “Băsescu: I say that there is no convincing evidence of election fraud with the support of the Russians”, where all opinions are clearly attributed to the speaker without added editorial framing.

Similarly, “Băsescu: Trump is 78–79 years old, Putin is also about 74 years old” relays criticism of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin through direct quotes. International and social-issues coverage often relies on major wire services, as seen in “French LGBT+ associations file complaint in Paris against Meta and Zuckerberg”, which attributes reporting to AFP.

Economic and environmental reporting, such as “EY: Only 13% of companies publish nature-related reports”, closely follows data from EY and provides extensive methodological context. While topic selection may lean slightly toward governance, environmental, and human-rights issues, the outlet itself maintains a largely neutral, agency-style tone.
