Analysis / Bias
We analyzed Hungary Today’s recent coverage, including articles on alleged EU “interference” in Hungarian elections (“EU Left Seek to Interfere in Hungarian Elections,”), Viktor Orbán’s rejection of further EU funding for Ukraine, (“Viktor Orbán Rejects Further EU Funding for Ukraine,”) and the new law (“Parliament Passes Law Banning Production and Sale of Artificial Meat,”) banning cultivated (“artificial”) meat, to assess wording, sourcing, and political alignment.
Headlines are mostly straight, but the stories lean heavily on government and ruling-party statements, with limited space for opposition voices, civil society, or independent experts. The election piece largely carries a Fidesz MEP’s claim about the “EU Left” without presenting alternative perspectives, while the Ukraine-funding article centers Orbán’s five-point argument with few direct links to EU proposals or Council documents. The cultivated-meat story reports the ban and vote totals but does not link the bill text or provide regulatory or scientific context on how the law fits with EU rules.
Hungary Today at times cites mainstream outlets such as Politico Europe; in the EU “interference” in Hungarian elections article, it also embeds posts from Patriots for Europe’s official X account (@PatriotsEP), a partisan European Parliament group. Yet, the piece still leans on government/party communications with limited counter-voices, leaving the framing one-sided.
