Analysis / Bias

Hacker News does not produce original content but rather relies on user-submitted news stories from third-party sources. News articles focus on technology and science with stories such as this Google pushes emergency Chrome update to fix 8th zero-day in 2022, which links to the least biased Bleeping Computer. A review of sources indicates that most are known and credible such as the BBC, TechCrunch, and Nature.org. However, sometimes users publish articles from obscure sources that are not verified and some from sources that have failed fact checks, like Al Jazeera and The Guardian.

Editorially, story selection is reflected by the users and therefore offers diverse stories with very few related to politics. In general, Hackers News is low biased but sometimes relies on sources that have failed fact checks.
