Funded by / Ownership

Fakti.bg appears to be privately owned by the Rezon Media Group. The website is primarily funded through advertising. No evidence of significant donor or political party funding has been found, which is consistent with their stated commitment to independence.

Analysis / Bias

Fakti.bg publishes local, national, and international news and provides extensive staff biographies, including those of experienced journalists such as Anatoly Staykov, Ani Efremova, and Maria Atanasova, on their About page.

The site demonstrates professional sourcing standards. For example, in reporting on the Alaska summit between Trump and Putin, the outlet cited experts from Chatham House and RUSI to analyze the geopolitical impact in the article “Zelensky’s public humiliation: Trump rewarded Putin for his invasion of Ukraine”.

In contrast, local news coverage such as “A 61-year-old doctor is the victim of the accident in which a car crashed into a bus” relies on eyewitness accounts and television reporting.

The opinion section contains political commentary. An example is how Bulgaria is chasing its young people, which is somewhat critical of the right-leaning government. Opinion content is clearly labeled and separated from hard news. Overall, Fakti.bg demonstrates balance by publishing factual reporting alongside labeled analysis.
