History
Fact Investigation Platform (FIP.am) was founded in 2016 by the Union of Informed Citizens as Armenia’s first media outlet dedicated exclusively to fact-checking journalism. According to its About Us page, FIP.am was created to expose disinformation and manipulation by officials, state bodies, and the media, while adhering to journalistic ethics and Armenian law and explicitly rejecting political affiliation or advocacy.

Funded by / Ownership
FIP.am is owned and operated by the Union of Informed Citizens, which publicly discloses project funding sources and partners through its donation and transparency pages. The outlet states that donor agreements explicitly prohibit interference in editorial decisions and that funding details are made publicly available to safeguard independence.
Analysis / Bias
FIP.am operates as a nonpartisan verification outlet focused on political statements, media claims, and viral misinformation. For example, it debunked the adrenochrome conspiracy theory in its fact check titled “The Adrenachrome ‘mystery’,” explaining the origins of the claim in QAnon and Pizzagate narratives and citing scientific literature to conclude the claim is false.
Domestically, the outlet has corrected misinformation involving Armenian authorities, such as its report on claims surrounding the restoration of land linked to DOSAAF, where it reviewed court documents and official records to determine that social media allegations were incorrect.
FIP.am also analyzes geopolitical misinformation, as seen in its examination of conspiratorial narratives surrounding the recall of the U.S. ambassador to Armenia, concluding that claims about a “deep state” purge were unfounded and unsupported by facts. Across coverage, sourcing relies on official documents, court decisions, primary statements, and expert analysis, and verdict labels are applied consistently.
