History
El Vocero is a Spanish-language newspaper based in Puerto Rico. It was founded in 1974 and has since become one of the most widely circulated newspapers on the island. The publication focuses on local news, politics, crime, entertainment, and sports. Historically, El Vocero gained popularity by emphasizing crime reporting, which contributed to its reputation as a tabloid-style newspaper in the past. Over the years, it has transitioned into a broader news publication with political coverage and investigative journalism.

Analysis / Bias
El Vocero is generally considered center-right in its political stance, with some tendencies toward conservatism in its editorial choices. It has been known to publish stories that align with pro-business and law-and-order perspectives. Coverage of Puerto Rican politics often includes critical reporting on left-leaning policies, but the newspaper does not consistently exhibit extreme partisan bias.
Its reporting on the Puerto Rican government tends to be more critical of left-leaning parties, particularly the Partido Popular Democrático (PPD), while offering more favorable coverage of the Partido Nuevo Progresista (PNP), which supports Puerto Rico’s statehood. However, the newspaper does provide coverage of multiple political perspectives, and its bias is not as strong as that of explicitly partisan outlets.
In terms of factual accuracy, El Vocero generally cites reputable sources such as the Associated Press and does not have a history of publishing misinformation. However, its focus on crime reporting and occasionally sensationalist headlines may contribute to a perception of bias.
