Funded by / Ownership

Azerbaijan’s Audiovisual Council identifies CIBC Global LLC as the licensed operator of AnewZ. The company received its satellite broadcasting license in October 2024.

AnewZ and CIBC Global do not prominently disclose the company’s ultimate beneficial ownership or detailed funding sources. The outlet operates television, digital, and advertising-supported platforms and maintains content partnerships with organizations including Reuters, Anadolu Agency, ENEX, i24NEWS, CCTV, and CGTN+.

Analysis / Bias

AnewZ publishes generally conventional international news and frequently attributes material to Reuters, government agencies, and named correspondents. Its broader world coverage does not demonstrate a consistent left-right political bias.

However, coverage involving Azerbaijan and Armenia frequently reflects Azerbaijani government perspectives. For example, External pressure from Europe complicates Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process prominently presents Baku’s characterization of Belgian and Dutch parliamentary criticism as anti-Azerbaijani bias. Likewise, One year after Washington: Azerbaijan and Armenia’s progress on the road to peace frames regional developments largely through the success of the Azerbaijan-backed normalization process.

At the same time, AnewZ publishes broader international reporting and clearly labels opinion content. Overall, its reporting is generally fact-based, but limited ownership transparency and a noticeable pro-Azerbaijan perspective on sensitive regional issues reduce its factual and credibility ratings.
