YouTube and Fox Channels Face Potential Blackout Over Payment Dispute

YouTube TV has warned subscribers that Fox channels—including Fox Sports, Fox Business, and Fox News—may go dark if a new agreement isn’t reached by 5:00 PM ET today. The platform, owned by Alphabet, says Fox is demanding higher fees than other comparable partners. Fox, in turn, accused Google of leveraging its market power and offering terms that are “out of step with the marketplace.” YouTube said it is working to reach a fair deal without increasing costs for subscribers and will offer a $10 credit if the channels become unavailable. Judge Orders Kari Lake to Testify Over Voice of America Overhaul

A federal judge has ordered Kari Lake, a Trump administration official, to testify under oath about her role in dismantling Voice of America and the U.S. Agency for Global Media. Judge Royce C. Lamberth criticized Lake for evading prior court orders and accused her of acting in contempt. Plaintiffs allege she gutted the agency in violation of Congressional mandates, including slashing staff, suspending broadcasts in dozens of languages, and aligning with partisan media like OANN. Five Journalism Organizations Unite to Form Reporter Support Network

Five leading press freedom groups—the Committee to Protect Journalists, Freedom of the Press Foundation, International Women’s Media Foundation, PEN America, and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press—have launched the Journalist Assistance Network. Formed amid escalating threats to U.S. journalists, the Network offers a centralized system for legal aid, safety training, and emergency support. Since the 2024 election, requests for assistance have surged, with issues ranging from spyware threats to immigration concerns.
