Senate Approves Deep Cuts to Public Broadcasting and Foreign Aid

Press Forward Awards $22.7M to Boost Local News Infrastructure

Press Forward has awarded $22.7 million to 22 projects addressing systemic challenges in local journalism, including mental health support, crisis coverage preparedness, revenue model development, and content preservation. The initiative, funded by a coalition of over 90 organizations, aims to bolster newsroom sustainability and effectiveness amid industry-wide transformation. With more than 550 proposals received, the awards highlight key areas of pressure in the sector.
