X Sues New York Over Social Media Moderation Disclosure Law

X, Elon Musk’s social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has filed a lawsuit against New York State over the “Stop Hiding Hate Act.” The law, effective Thursday, mandates that platforms disclose how they manage hate speech, misinformation, extremism, and similar content. X argues this violates the First Amendment by compelling disclosure of “highly sensitive and controversial speech.” The company also draws parallels to a similar California law that was blocked and ultimately dropped. Lawmakers backing the bill assert the requirements are narrowly tailored and necessary for public transparency. Non-compliance could incur fines of up to $15,000 per day. TikTok Ban Enforcement Delayed Again by Trump Executive Order

MIT Study: ChatGPT Use May Diminish Critical Thinking Over Time
