MBFC’s Daily Vetted Fact Checks for 03/23/2025 (Weekend Edition)

Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

LIE
Claim by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: “The [measles] vaccine wanes about 4.5% per year. So that means older people are essentially unvaccinated. They aren’t — their immune system is not protected.”

FactCheck.org rating: False (There’s no evidence that overall vaccine protection declines that quickly. It would mean thousands of vaccinated people should have contracted measles in the latest outbreak.)

TRUE Claim by U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.: “Not paying a living wage is actually a form of corporate welfare, too, because these big companies like Walmart and Amazon often rely on food stamp programs and public coffers to cover the wages that they won’t pay to people.”

PolitiFact rating: True (Data supports this claim in a 2020 report from the Government Accountability Office.)

Snopes rating: False (There were no news stories about a judge supposedly trying to punish Bondi for wearing the Christian cross around her neck in a courtroom, much less one with the name “Prescott.”)
