Claim by Daily Wire: The CDC “Remove[d] COVID Vaccine Adverse Event Reports”, “stopping the collection of public health information doesn’t have a clinical justification”

Health Feedback rating: Misleading (The Daily Wire article implied that the CDC’s halt to v-safe meant that all safety monitoring of COVID-19 vaccines had stopped. However, there are many other vaccine safety monitoring systems apart from v-safe that continue to operate. The article implied that VAERS reports demonstrated a causal relationship between the reported events and COVID-19 vaccines. However, such reports on their own don’t provide sufficient evidence of causality.)

Claim by Joe Biden (D): “According to the Congressional Budget Office,” the Inflation Reduction Act “will save the federal government $160 billion over the next 10 years because Medicare will be paying less for the prescription drugs they’re making available to seniors.”

PolitiFact rating: Mostly True (The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projects 10-year cumulative savings of $161.7 billion from two provisions of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. However, not all of these savings will be permanent. Some $44.3 billion of those savings over 10 years will be immediately funneled into related provisions that expand access and lower out-of-pocket costs for Medicare beneficiaries.)
