Former President Trump sued the Pulitzer Prize board for defamation on Wednesday, claiming that a statement issued by the group concluding a review of previous claims he’d made defamed him.
Trump had threatened to sue for months after the board issued the allegedly defamatory statement, which announced the completion of two independent reviews requested by Trump and others regarding Pulitzers awarded for stories about Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
Trump has long used the courts to harass his opponents and draw attention to his own claims.
The former president claimed the Pulitzer board’s statement contained numerous inaccuracies, referring to the group as the “establishment’s establishment.”
