History
Founded in 1961, The Hudson Institute is an American conservative non-profit think tank based in Washington, D.C.. It was founded in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, by futurist, military strategist, and systems theorist Herman Kahn and his colleagues at the RAND Corporation. The current President is Kenneth R. Weinstein. The tagline for the Hudson Institute is “Promoting American leadership and global engagement for a secure, free, and prosperous bright future.”

The Hudson Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is funded through donations. The website discloses financial information here. Some previous and current donors are Koch Family Foundations (David H. Koch Foundation), Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, Scaife Foundations (Scaife Family, Sarah Mellon Scaife, Carthage) and Walton Family Foundation. According to OpenSecrets they donate almost exclusively to Republican candidates and causes.
Analysis / Bias
In review, the Hudson Institutes website publishes news and research from a conservative/libertarian perspective. Under the research category they publish articles with minimal loaded language such as this: Coronavirus and the Chinese Economy: Watching for Signs of a Further Slowdown. This research piece is properly sourced to such publications as the Wall Street Journal. The website also features a section where they provide links to other sources where Hudson Institute members/staff are mentioned.
When it comes to scientific issues such as climate change the Hudson Institute supports the consensus of science that climate is influenced by human activity, however they disagree with Government regulation in favor of free market solutions: An American Way to Tackle Climate Change and Battle Global Warming.
