BREAKING: Accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who died by apparent suicide, was not on suicide watch when he was found unresponsive in his jail cell

Jeffrey Epstein, who died by apparent suicide Saturday morning after being found unresponsive in his Manhattan jail cell, was not on suicide watch, multiple people familiar with the investigation into his death told NBC News.

The accused sex trafficker’s death comes less than a month after he was found injured and in a fetal position in his federal jail cell. He was semiconscious with marks on his neck. In July, two sources told NBC News that Epstein was on suicide watch.
