The parents of two children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre are suing Alex Jones along with this website “InfoWars” for engaging in a campaign of “false, cruel and dangerous assertions.” A pair of lawsuits are seeking $1 million in damages each. Each claims that Jones repeatedly asserted the shooting was staged and the parents were liars and frauds who helped in a cover-up.
The suits were filed by Neil Heslin and the parents of Noah Pozner (Leonard Pozner and Veronique De La Rosa), the youngest victim in the massacre. In a phone interview with Mark Bankstown, a Houston-based lawyer for the parents, Bankstown said “He needs to held accountable. The strategy of ignoring him didn’t work, he didn’t go away.”
Jones has repeatedly dismissed the murders as fiction and compared the killings to a trip to Disney world.
The suit mentions Lucy Richards, a reader of the Infowars website who sent ominous emails to the parents and left threatening voicemails. Lucy Richards was arrested back in December of 2016 and was indicted on four counts of transmitting threats in interstate commerce, each count carrying a sentence of five years.
