Sud Ouest is a French regional daily newspaper founded on August 29, 1944, by Jacques Lemoîne in Bordeaux. According to its Who Are We? page, Sud Ouest is the leading press brand in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the second-largest regional daily newspaper in France. It covers seven departments: Gironde, Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Lot-et-Garonne, Dordogne, Charente, and Charente-Maritime.
Sud Ouest publishes local, departmental, regional, national, and international news through its print newspaper, website, apps, newsletters, podcasts, video, and social media. The outlet states that it employs about 720 people, including 250 journalists, supported by approximately 400 local correspondents and more than 20 bureaus, including one in Paris. Its website sudouest.fr is one of France’s major regional news platforms.
