Fact Check: Did Trump spend Thanksgiving 2017 with Jeffrey Epstein?

Media Bias Fact Check (MBFC) publishes daily vetted fact checks from IFCN-approved sources. Each claim is independently reviewed for accuracy and context.

Claimant: Rep. Sean Casten (D)

Claim: “Trump spent his first Thanksgiving as president (2017) with Jeffrey Epstein.”

Rating: BLATANT LIE

Explanation: PolitiFact found no evidence Trump met with Epstein on Thanksgiving 2017. White House schedules, photos, and news records show Trump spent Thanksgiving Day at Mar-a-Lago with family and made public appearances at a Coast Guard station and his golf club. Epstein’s email stating “Trump was down there” referred only to the Palm Beach area, not a meeting.
