DER SPIEGEL – The German View is an English-language Substack newsletter published by the German news magazine DER SPIEGEL. According to its About page, it provides translated reporting, interviews, and commentary focused on Germany, Europe, international affairs, and American politics.

Analysis / Bias
The German View is more commentary-driven and openly opinionated than DER SPIEGEL’s main news website. Its reporting is generally detailed and well-sourced, but headlines and analysis frequently use loaded language against Donald Trump, right-wing populism, and authoritarian governments.
In Putin and Trump – Partners in Malice, DER SPIEGEL portrays Trump as hostile to Europe and sympathetic toward Vladimir Putin. The article uses extensive reporting and leaked discussions but frames both leaders in strongly negative terms.
