History
Demagog was founded in 2014 as Poland’s first dedicated fact-checking organization, emerging from collaboration with Czech and Slovak Demagog initiatives. The group verifies statements by politicians and public figures, debunks online disinformation, and conducts civic education programs promoting media literacy and critical thinking. Demagog joined the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) in 2019, becoming the first Polish member to commit to the IFCN Code of Principles on impartiality, transparency, and accuracy.

Funded by / Ownership

It receives partial support and training collaboration from international organizations but maintains financial independence. All surpluses are reinvested into statutory activities, and full financial reports are publicly available to ensure transparency.
Analysis / Bias
Demagog applies strict neutrality in its fact-checking and consistently adheres to international verification standards. Its political analyses, such as “A Ban on Fur Farms: What Did PiS Propose as Part of Its ‘Friday for Animals’ Initiative?”, demonstrate balanced coverage by assessing claims from multiple Polish parties with transparent citations to legislation and parliamentary records.
Issue-based reports, such as “Piotr Witczak’s Anti-Vaccination Lecture at a Community Center,” expose medical disinformation by citing official scientific and regulatory authorities, such as the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) and URPL. Similarly, the investigation “5G Mast in Legnica: Is Radiation Cooking Residents? Experts Deny” methodically debunks false viral content through expert testimony, government standards, and verifiable data.
Language across articles is technical, evidence-driven, and free from partisan tone. The organization covers both left- and right-wing misinformation, applies the same factual criteria regardless of ideology, and discloses its corrections policy and verification process publicly. There is no sign of selective framing, political alignment, or omission of relevant evidence.
