History
Apollo News is a German-language digital political magazine founded by a team of young journalists who describe their work as “underdog journalism.” Based in Berlin, the publication presents itself as a corrective to what it perceives as a conformist and left-leaning media establishment. Apollo gained national attention for helping to expose voting irregularities in the 2021 Berlin elections. Its editorial team previously collaborated with the conservative outlet Tichys Einblick. Apollo News emphasizes investigative reporting, video formats, and offers a training academy for aspiring journalists.

Analysis / Bias
Apollo News displays a clear right-wing bias, with frequent criticism of leftist politicians, immigration policy, and progressive cultural movements. It’s reporting often centers on crime involving migrants, such as the graphic and emotionally charged coverage of an Afghan couple convicted of murder. The piece emphasizes the brutality of the act and the victim’s refugee background, a narrative common in right-populist framing.
It is also consistently hostile to “wokeness”, echoing American conservative talking points. For example, it approvingly cites former U.S. Ambassador Richard Grenell’s demand to “remove wokeness from the government” and his encouragement for Germany’s CDU party to confront left-leaning media.
Apollo regularly attacks left-wing parties and is favorable to the far-right AfD. In one article, it portrays Left Party politician Ferat Koçak dancing to a violent anti-AfD song and frames it as an endorsement of extremism. These pieces use provocative language, often emphasizing violence, “fascism,” and ideological extremism among the political left, while omitting equivalent scrutiny of far-right actors.
Although Apollo News publishes some factual, locally grounded reporting, such as its election investigations and political coverage, it frequently lacks neutral framing and omits balanced context. Sources are usually named (e.g., FAZ, BZ), and factual events are not fabricated; however, the editorial tone and selective coverage strongly suggest a partisan agenda.
