Fact Check Search

Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

FALSE Claim via Social Media: Time magazine named Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk in its “Top 100 Most Influential People of 2025” issue and featured her picture on the cover.

Snopes rating: False (While Time magazine did not feature Erika Kirk on its list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2025 in April and the magazine covers shared in Facebook posts with that claim were fake, Time did include her name on its list of the world’s “most influential rising stars” that September.)

Erika Kirk wasn’t named in Time magazine’s ‘Most Influential People of 2025’ issue

FALSE Claim by Hakeem Jeffries (D): “The Trump administration just declared that erecting a ballroom is the president’s main priority,” rather than issues such as the cost of living and health care.

PolitiFact rating: False (In a briefing, a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt about President Donald Trump’s priorities for renovating parts of the White House campus. Leavitt responded that the ballroom is his top priority. Leavitt did not say the ballroom is Trump’s priority among all policies, such as inflation and health care.)

Hakeem Jeffries twists Karoline Leavitt’s words about ballroom as Trump priority

TRUE Claim by Sen. Ron Johnson (R): “Obamacare premiums have increased three times the rate of inflation.”

Gigafact rating: True (Affordable Care Act premiums have risen about 118% since 2014, compared with 39% inflation over the same period. The average monthly premium for a benchmark plan grew from $273 in 2014 to an expected $596 in 2026. Premiums rose sharply in 2017, stabilized afterward, and are projected to climb more than 18% in 2026.)

Have Obamacare premiums increased three times the rate of inflation?

BLATANT
LIE
Claim via Social Media: A video that circulated in October 2025 authentically depicted hordes of people rioting and looting Walmart because the government cut off food stamps.

Snopes.com rating: False (AI-generated)

Real video shows rioting and looting at Walmart?

FALSE (International: United Kingdom): Keir Starmer has announced that from 1 November the government will reduce internet speeds from midnight until 6am.

Full Fact rating: False (No such policy has been announced. Social media videos claiming this feature fake audio, which was almost certainly AI-generated, over old footage of Mr Starmer.)

The government isn’t going to slow the internet at night from November – Full Fact
